5 Easy Hacks to Simplify and Organize Your Life!

Hi, lovelies! It's Bec and welcome back to my blog. In today's post, I'm gonna share with you five ways to simplify your life in 2021 and these are little organization hacks to know because my friends love my little organization tips. So, I hope you all too enjoy this post and if you do, give it a big thanks. These organization tips are going to help you not only to organize your work life and personal life but there are also practical ways to do that and mentally you're going to be organizing your life and being much more clear on how you direct your attention and where you spend your time most. So, let's get straight into it!

Now, the first hack is to be more deliberate with how you use social media. I can't believe it, I never thought of doing it this way, but on Instagram, you know that little save button next to a post. You can use that to curate different albums. So, making social media work for you rather than mindlessly scrolling and being at the mercy of an algorithm and an algorithm that also knows that treating the app like a slot machine where you press down to refresh and you don't know what's coming next, is how they hook you in instead of doing that. Being really deliberate with why you're hopping on to an app like Instagram and using it in a way that really assists you in building a life that you love. So simplifying your feed is one thing, but then organizing your feed is another 'organizing the content' that you're consuming through that. Personally, I will save things and create albums for interior design, healthy recipes, inspirational and motivational quotes that I love to repost to my Instagram stories. If you don't follow me on Instagram, my account is @bec_4844      :)

So, think about how you can organize your social media apps in a way to serve you. The next hack is so important to know if you're trying to get on top of your finances. So it's to review all of your subscriptions and cancel any unnecessary ones. Think about whether any subscriptions that you currently are signed up to, are perhaps not really adding much value to your life and whether you can cancel them too because you'll be surprised by how much you can save.

This next organization hack has played a huge role in just really building or rebuilding my own mental health and cultivating more joy in my life. So, it's to work to live - not live to work. I'm going to say that again, work to live - don't live to work. Now last year and it's so strange because I'm actually writing this in 2020 but in 2020 because there was a lot that was out of my own control and we did experience multiple extended lockdowns. The best way for me to cope with that and focus on things I can control was to focus on work. However, I think that it eventually got to the point where I was living to work and not working to live. Not working in order to support the lifestyle that I wanted. So, one thing that I did was, I actually wrote down and whether you're a student or you're running your own business or you're employed, I wrote down everything I do for work. There was a list of 30 things

There's a lot of them you may not think! there's a lot! But, trust me there were a lot of things that came to mind. I wrote down all 30 things I do for work and then I categorized them using some colored markers because this is Study with Bec. We're talking about how weird, that I refer to myself in the third person! Anyway! I color coordinated all of the tasks based on whether they were essential, non-essential, added value but weren't essential. You know really, just trying to get clear on where I needed to direct my attention and it's kind of like that 80/20 rule where 80 percent of your output comes from 20 of your work. So, if you think about anything in life, if you think about my work, 80 of my business opportunities come from youtube. 80 of my fulfillment comes from creating content. Yet, it's only a very specific amount of the overall work that I do. It's only one thing on my list of 30! Although a lot of work goes into creating all of my posts and planning for them.

So, I was trying to think where can I cut down or reduce my workload so that I can work to live and not live to work and I found it to be really really helpful. So, if you're trying to simplify your life, simplify your to-do list, simplify your workload. It's so important especially after the year that we've had to really make sure that we're living in alignment with our core values and we're creating a life that serves us. The next hack is to make tracking your finances a habit. This isn't something I was doing until the start of last year and it was incredibly beneficial in fact. The second that I paid more attention to, is my finances and I got them more organized and I was more aware of how much I'm earning and how much we're spending and I felt a lot more in control of my life and I really encourage you to do the same.

The last hack... This is so simple, yet it really frees up so much space in your mind. It is to automate where possible. I have alarms going off for when to take a lunch break, study breaks, back to study, dine, etc. so that I never skip a break. I have reminders when to check my emails when to go on social media so that I'm more disciplined and I have boundaries when to wake up. There are reminders for checking so many things in my work life, mainly, but I feel like automating, that helps me to stick to a schedule especially when you're not in school and you don't have a bell to remind you to move on to the next task or teachers to hold you accountable and then I've even automated payments so basically, every bill that we pay, whether it's rent, gas electricity, internet phone bill, it's all automated so that I don't have to worry about remembering to pay a bill either just little things that you can take off your plate that have a really big impact.
